Malware Behavior and Technical Description

This Trojan runs on mobile devices running Symbian. The installer archive is 6202 bytes in size.

Installation

When installing, the Trojan displays the following message:

It then causes the following message to be displayed:

If the user clicks "OK", the following file will be unpacked to the device:

C:\System\Fonts\T-VIRUS.gdr

– this file is 11 335 bytes in size

Payload

This file is a corrupt system fonts file. Once the device is rebooted, the operating system will detect an incorrect font in the system, and reboot itself.

Removal Trojan.SymbOS.Fontal.h instructions:

1. Perform a hard reset of the device.
2. Perform a full scan of the device (download a trial version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus Mobile).
